He came to us due to no fault of his own. Kids grew up and moved out, now dad does not want him. He ended up on a yard sale site. Buddy is a Wheaten Terrier/Poodle mix that has a mellow temperament. He is doing well on house training.
This week Buddy went to the vet because his foster parents had noticed he was in more pain. After reviewing x-rays and a physical exam, the vet commented that the only joints in Buddy’s body that are in good shape are his hips. At some point, prior to coming to rescue, Buddy has torn both ACLs in his knees. They were not treated and healed on their own. Buddy also has severe arthritis in his back and knees. This has lead to muscle atrophy, and explains why he is in pain. Buddy received a cold laser therapy treatment to help with inflammation. We have been advised that ongoing laser therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma may be complementary treatments to combine with traditional medicine to control his pain. Though Buddy has physical limitations, he would make a great companion for a family that can commit to his ongoing care. We estimate Buddy to be between 8 to 10 years old. He is fully vetted, and ready for the right forever home. An ideal home is one-level with few stairs and no cats. He gets along well with other dogs.
All dogs will be spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, heart worm tested, wormed, micro-chipped and will have had 1 month of heart worm preventative, and 1 month of flea preventative before adoption.
